SCREEN Holdings (TSE: 7735) suffered an extraordinary 19% share-price collapse in Tokyo on Monday, November 2, closing at ¥9,218 despite reporting higher revenue, rising profits and record orders. The Japanese semiconductor equipment manufacturer had already fallen 5.8% on Friday, bringing its combined decline over the two trading sessions to approximately 23.7%.

The company’s October 30 financial presentation showed 12.5% revenue growth and a 17.4% increase in operating profit for the six months ended September 30. SCREEN also raised its annual dividend forecast to ¥183 per share.

Although the stock has now lost more than half its value since the June peak, it remains 21% higher in 2026.

From ¥19,770 to ¥9,218 in four months

SCREEN Holdings was one of the Japanese semiconductor companies that experienced substantial share-price gains during the first half of 2026.

On June 30, 2026, the stock reached approximately ¥19,770.

Four months later, the shares closed November 2 at ¥9,218.

That represents a decline of 53.4% from the June peak.

The latest two-day selloff has been particularly severe.

SCREEN declined 5.8% on Friday, October 30, followed by another 19% on Monday, November 2. Together, those two movements reduced the share price by approximately 23.7%.

The timing is notable. The company published its latest results after the Tokyo market had closed on Friday, meaning Monday was the first full trading session following the financial announcement.

Despite the dramatic correction, SCREEN remains up 21% year-to-date, illustrating the scale of its earlier advance.

The latest decline also contrasts with the performance of fellow semiconductor equipment manufacturer Tokyo Electron, which rebounded 5.2% on November 2 following its own earnings announcement.

What does SCREEN Holdings do?

SCREEN Holdings is a Japanese technology group headquartered in Kyoto and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of semiconductor production equipment.

The company’s main specialty is wafer cleaning equipment used during semiconductor manufacturing.

Producing advanced chips involves numerous manufacturing steps in which extremely small particles and contaminants must be removed from silicon wafers. SCREEN supplies equipment for these processes, including single-wafer cleaning systems, batch-type cleaning machines and spin scrubbers.

The company holds leading global market positions in several cleaning equipment categories.

Its technology is used in the production of logic chips and memory semiconductors, including chips for smartphones, computers, data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

SCREEN operates through four principal businesses:

  • Semiconductor Production Equipment (SPE): Equipment for cleaning, processing and inspecting semiconductor wafers.

  • Graphic Arts Equipment (GA): Printing and imaging equipment, including industrial inkjet systems.

  • Display Production Equipment and Coater (FT): Equipment used in the manufacturing of LCD and OLED displays.

  • PCB-related Equipment (PE): Equipment for printed circuit board production, including direct imaging and inspection systems.

Semiconductor equipment is by far the largest division, generating approximately 81.5% of group revenue during the first half of FY2027.

SCREEN therefore has substantial exposure to capital expenditure by global semiconductor manufacturers.

Revenue and profit both increased in the first half

On October 30, SCREEN published its financial results for the six months ended September 30, 2026.

The company reported revenue of ¥308.45 billion, compared with ¥274.30 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
